Your interest in and passion for the Random Acts of Flowers’ mission has prompted me to send you a special update on our organization. I am humbled by compassionate people like you who want to recycle flowers and deliver hope and encouragement to your neighbors in need. When I founded Random Acts of Flowers in 2008 after a near-fatal accident, I never intended to grow the organization outside of Knoxville, TN; but, it was immediately evident that every community could benefit from RAF’s mission.
Since our first expansion site opened in late 2013 in Tampa Bay, FL, we have grown (and learned) a tremendous amount. Random Acts of Flowers now has five branches in five states stretching from coast to coast, and we have brought beautiful flowers and personal moments of kindness to more than165,000 vulnerable members of these communities (50,000 this year alone!). The need is great; and, with your support, we can serve even more.
I recently joined our volunteers on a delivery to a veteran’s hospital. Even though I’ve delivered arrangements to thousands of people over the years, I’m still surprised and saddened at the vast number of patients who have no flowers, plants, or visitors - the very things that aided in my recovery. Out of the 105 patients we served that day, only two had any signs of visitors or gifts. With every happily surprised face and tear of joy, the immediate impact of our mission became all the more evident. We brought a bouquet, a smile, and a moment of kindness into rooms that were previously devoid of color and hope.
Sharon had been in the hospital for more than five weeks when Random Acts of Flowers made its first delivery to Indianapolis’s Eskenazi Health in mid-October.
“Two ladies walked in my room with flowers today,” Sharon said in a voice message. “This was so nice and helps to make a long hospital stay a little more manageable.”
Your desire to deliver hope and encouragement in your community has inspired us to continue to expand around the country, but we need you. Our goal for the next year is to open additional Random Acts of Flowers branches and to create programs that serve smaller markets with our mission.
Will you join me this season of giving and invest in Random Acts of Flowers?A $25 gift will allow us to grow and serve more communities with kindness, compassion, and re-purposed flowers.
